CPT Operator - Driller

S&ME seeks an individual to join our Field Exploration team in Charleston, South Carolina as a CPT Operator and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a CPT Operator - Driller, under minimal supervision, drills basic geotechnical projects with direct knowledge of drilling methods including CPT, SCPT, PPDs, DMT, and soil sampling. Assists in the transport of drill rigs and all related equipment. Ensure that all materials and supplies are available for the assigned project. Responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness, while continuing to learn and teach the Assistant about proper techniques. Advanced knowledge of data processing and interpretation. Will exhibit safety, quality workmanship, and integrity; be dependable; and be open to working outdoors year-round. The ability to travel with paid hotels and per diem is part of this position's requirements.

Drilling Operations: Operate drill rigs with advanced knowledge of the entire fleet of rigs (Track, Truck, Limited access, Overwater)
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and determine the need for equipment maintenance.
Reporting: Submit data to the Project Manager in an organized and timely manner.
Quality: Assure that all drilling functions, including quality control, quality assurance, and verification are performed per the standard drilling methods, project specifications, and other contract documents.
Coordination of Others: Coordinate and oversee the daily activities on medium to large projects of assigned operator assistants and communicate field conditions and job progress to management and professional staff daily.
Training: Effectively train and mentor junior-level staff.

Who You Are:

You have a High school diploma or GED
You have a Bachelor's degree in geology, a plus
You have a minimum of 5 years of drilling experience
You have a Commercial Driver License (CDL)
You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
You have an advanced understanding of CPT software/data
You have the knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
You have mechanical knowledge related to drilling and heavy equipment

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
Walking over rough and uneven terrain
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
