Your Day-to-Day:
As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll drive a company vehicle to perform on-site testing and observations of various construction materials. Our priority is ensuring things are "built right," and we take pride in that responsibility. You'll also have the chance to earn additional certifications to further your career, take on more complex testing tasks, and help mentor junior technicians. - Review plans and specs to ensure on-site testing aligns with project requirements
- Perform and observe field and lab tests on construction materials like soil, concrete, and asphalt to confirm compliance
- Use advanced tools like Metafield® to record and report testing results
- Calibrate testing equipment to meet industry standards for accuracy
- Conduct Special Inspections to guarantee regulatory compliance and quality
- Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth collaboration and project success.
What You Bring:
- A high school diploma/ GED
- 2+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials or equivalent experience and an associate degree in a related field
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Any of the following certifications are a plus:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI):
- Field Testing Grade I
- Strength Testing Technician
- Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC)
- Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
- DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8+ hours a day based on project needs
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
