Purchasing Agent

Selected candidate can work out of either the Selma, TX or Del Valle, TX location.

The Levy Company is currently hiring an experienced Purchasing Agent to set up new projects and administer procurement activities for materials, supplies, subcontractors, tools, and equipment.

Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to:

Set up new projects to include creation of budget, pay applications, and earned cost reports.
Input new projects into accounting, project management, and various other systems used by the company.
Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for quoted items selected during the bidding process.
Source and evaluate new suppliers for materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and support.
Negotiate pricing that reflects an understanding of the commodity market.
Conduct supplier quoting and negotiation, considering project needs and budget targets.
Coordinate purchasing activities with the requestor throughout the process to assure effective and timely delivery.
Provide recommendations and prepare purchase orders based on price and availability.
Monitor order status until the entire order has been delivered.
Resolve backorder, supplier, and contractor issues.
Research procurement best practices, processes, and procedures.
Document, communicate, and provide training for purchasing processes, procedures, and related changes.
Organize and maintain records of quotes and other purchasing documentation.
Set up project budgets in accounting and jobs platform.

Required Qualifications:

At least one year of work experience in a supply chain, materials management, or procurement position.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and additional related work experience.
Valid Texas driver license.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of work experience in a leadership role.

Required Competencies:

Basic understanding of procurement processes.
Understanding of commodity market.
Proven ability to effectively deal with ambiguity, identify gaps and implement innovative solutions to increase operational efficiency.
Proficiency in using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to communicate proficiently with suppliers and Levy Company management and employees.
Ability to organize own work and that of others.
Ability to comprehend and clearly provide oral and written instructions.
Ability to complete work accurately, efficiently, and timely under minimal supervision.

Working Environment:

Work is performed primarily indoors, sitting and performing work using a computer for long periods of time with occasional driving of motor vehicles.

Physical Demands:

Sitting for up to eight (8) hours per day.
Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 30 pounds occasionally and 15 pounds frequently.
Occasional walking, bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.
Visual acuity to drive a motor vehicle and to read printed and electronic documents.
Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common office environment noises.
Manual dexterity to manipulate, handle, and feel.
