KLJ Engineering is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our growing construction management team as a Field Engineer I! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while gaining hands-on experience in the field. This position is responsible for gaining fundamental engineering basics that align with ensuring KLJ continues to provide exceptional service to our clients. The right person will be responsible for producing quality calculations, plan sheet development, engineering reports, construction administration and other project deliverables.
Your Growth Opportunity
- Apply fundamental civil engineering principles and standards to individual project tasks
- Utilize design software to apply engineering standards of design
- Construction observation/inspection and administration
- Ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards
- Utilize effective written and oral communication
What you're responsible for
• Assist with elements of project design including calculation of quantities for cost estimating and bidding purposes
• Increase design competency in software(s) associated with typical project requirements
• Become familiar with, and competent in the details of putting together a set of plans
• Effectively convey engineering analysis and results in written reports and documentation
• Perform construction administration duties such as documenting activities, providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, residents and others.
• May assist with preparation for public/client meetings
What you'll need
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institution
• Must be able to obtain Engineer-In-Training Certification within 6 months of employment.
• Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word and Excel.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and able to operate motorized vehicles
Preferences:
• Civil or Construction Engineering Degree
• Academic or on the job engineering design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation or other design software.
• Desire to pursue Professional Engineer licensure
• Previous Internship Experience in related field

The salary for this position is expected to range between $60,000 and $72,000. This estimated salary represents the middle of the range. Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include education (or applicable experience), training, job location, competencies relevant to the role, and internal equity.
