As a Human Resources (HR) Specialist at Room & Board, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our people-first culture, which is rooted in respect, authenticity, and shared success. Reporting to our HR Director, you’ll ensure the smooth execution of essential HR processes that uphold compliance, enhance the staff member experience, and strengthen operational excellence.
You’ll partner closely with your team of HR Business Partners, as well as the payroll, benefits, and other cross‑functional teams, to maintain accurate records, support key HR programs, and deliver timely, thoughtful service. With a strong focus on HR operations, compliance, systems, and staff member support, you’ll help create a structured, efficient, and welcoming environment where every team member can thrive.

Please note: This is a hybrid role working Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays in our office. We are not currently considering fully remote candidates.
You’ll share your talents as an HR Specialist in the following ways:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff member records while supporting broader HR compliance activities, including documentation tracking, mandated training completion, and compliance notifications.
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and the maintenance of Room & Board’s handbook and compliance routines.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff member inquiries related to HR policies, processes, compensation recommendations, and job code information, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Partner with payroll and compensation teams to ensure accurate data entry and updates in UKG and related files.
- Support key moments in the staff member journey—including onboarding and offboarding—to ensure a positive, seamless experience.
- Monitor and manage the HR inbox and/or ticketing system, routing issues promptly and accurately.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity, submit staff member changes, and generate reports and dashboards to support compliance and operational needs.
- Support the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures, including creating and maintaining process documentation.
- Assist with leave administration, including FMLA and other statutory requirements, in partnership with wellness, payroll, and benefits teams.
- Contribute to HR projects such as compliance audits, policy updates, and system enhancements.

The knowledge, education, and experience you’ll bring as an HR Specialist:
- 2–4 years of HR experience, ideally in an HR coordinator or specialist role.
- Strong knowledge of HR fundamentals, including compliance, compensation, record-keeping, and employment law basics.
- Proficiency with HR systems and the Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
- Certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR are a plus.
- Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 / yr.
