We are looking for an Engineering Project Engineer (Wet Utilities) for our Concord, CA Team!
Job Summary: An Engineering Project Engineer is responsible for designing primarily water, utilities, and other civil design projects. The work will involve design, utilizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D, research, and calculations. Position requires planning, scheduling, and managing all the technical tasks of their assigned project to ensure accuracy, proper resources, and quality from start to finish. Additionally, this position may perform project management tasks including but not limited to preparing proposals, cost estimates, and subconsultant management to assist project manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare construction drawings and supporting documents applying engineering standards and guidelines and using AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
- Works with minimal supervision. Requires planning, scheduling and managing all the technical tasks of their assigned project to assure accuracy, proper resources and quality from start to finish.
- Use engineering judgment to perform duties; knows when to ask questions, seek assistance and perform independent research.
- Works and interfaces with various entities, both governmental and private, to address and coordinate required documentation, permits, project background and other required protocol for design and construction purposes.
- Oversee the services and activities of subconsultants, including prepare Request for Proposals, manage subconsultant schedules and quality of deliverables.
- Performs technical evaluation, which includes field assessments and exploring the constructability and practicality of the design with various stakeholders to arrive at an optimum and realistic design.
- Prepares material inventory/quantity take-offs and design specifications.
- Prepares cost estimate or pricing estimates.
- Contribute to effective customer relations by providing support as requested from managers and by communicating with customers in an effective manner.
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Manage personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of projects, including budget, quality and schedule.
- Performs engineering calculations, clearly documenting methodology used and checking work.
- Researches and writes specifications and reports relating to project assignments.
- Under general supervision, performs engineering project work with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment within established policies and professional standards.
- Assists and directs lower-level staff on engineering problems.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of 4 years of engineering work experience (Project Engineer).
- Certificates/Licenses: California Professional (P.E.) License. Valid driver's license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and web browsing tools. Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- Interpersonal Skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interact effectively with other team members, clients, and occasionally deliver internal presentations.
- Leadership: effectively guides, motivates & supports project team; provide feedback, coaching and resolve conflicts.
- Technical Skills: mathematical skills, clearly documenting methodology used, and checking work.
- Organization and Planning: excellent time management, detail orientation, and organizational skills. Ability to prepare documentation and correspondence effectively and efficiently.
- Problem Solving: ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
Salary:
- $129,200/year - $153,500/year
