We are looking for an Engineering Assistant Engineer (Wet Utilities) to join our Concord, CA Team!
Job Summary: An Engineering Assistant Engineer provides support to senior engineers and assists in various engineering projects. They may assist in designing, testing, and analyzing products, preparing technical reports, conducting research, and troubleshooting technical issues. They work closely with the engineering team to ensure project goals are met and contribute to the overall success of engineering projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare construction drawings and supporting documents applying engineering standards and guidelines using AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
- Use engineering judgment to perform duties; knows when to ask questions, seek assistance and perform independent research.
- Works and interfaces with various entities, both governmental and private, to address and coordinate required documentation, permits, project background and other required protocol for design and construction purposes.
- Oversee the services and activities of subconsultants, including prepare Request for Proposals, manage subconsultant schedules and quality of deliverables.
- Performs technical evaluation, which includes field investigation and exploring the constructability and practicality of the design with various stakeholders to arrive at an optimum and realistic design.
- Prepares material inventory and design specifications.
- Prepares cost estimates or pricing estimates.
- Contribute to effective customer relations by providing support as requested from managers and by communicating with customers in an effective manner.
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Manage personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of projects, including budget, quality and schedule.
- Researches and writes specifications and reports relating to project assignments.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Bachelor's degree: 3-5 years engineering work experience at the Design Engineer or Junior Engineer level. Master's degree: 1-3 years engineering work experience at the Design Engineer or Junior Engineer level.
- Certificates/Licenses: Engineer-In-Training Certificate or CA Professional Civil Engineer or Electrical Engineer License. Valid driver's license in good standings, and have the ability to travel/drive to various locations throughout the state of California, primarily near the company offices (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: knowledge and ability to use basic office equipment and computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Web Browsing Tools. Knowledge and ability to use basic job specific software programs including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project and other software as applicable.
- Interpersonal Skills: ability to prepare and project documentation and correspondence, interact effectively with other team members, and occasionally interface with clients and deliver client, public, or internal presentations. Technical skills appropriate for the type of engineering tasks assigned.
- Leaderships: continuous learning, strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Technical Skills: mathematical skills, performs engineering calculations, clearly documenting methodology used, and checking work.
- Organization and Planning: excellent time management, detail orientation, and organizational skills. Ability to prepare documentation and correspondence effectively and efficiently.
- Problem Solving: ability to identify and seek information; research skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
Salary:
- $43.94/hour - $53.27/hour
