JOB TITLE: Senior Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee and manage key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This leadership role manages the monthly close, financial statement preparation, external audits, tax filings, and maintaining the integrity of accounting systems. The Senior Accounting Manager will have a strong background in accounting principles, audits, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive continuous process improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include:
Leadership Support and Team Management
- Collaborate with Executive team on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis
- Manage and lead a high-performing and engaged Accounting team through career mentoring, coaching and development while cultivating a positive, winning culture to attract and retain diverse talent
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the Accounting team
Financial Operations
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support the timely and precise recording of revenue and expenses
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and the accurate, timely reporting of all financial information in adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Perform variance analyses to provide actionable insights into the company’s financial performance
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards, analyzing and reporting on revenue as per applicable guidelines
- Manage annual renewal of corporate insurance policies, including cross-functional support required to complete applications
- Complete insurance applications and other requested data/analyses to support the renewal
- Manage the general liability insurance audit, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timely completion
- Participate in due diligence activities as requested by leadership and prepare financial schedules as needed
- Play an active role in the development of a scalable financial infrastructure with a focus on optimizing people, processes, and systems to support InVision’s future growth and margin expansion
- Manage client contract audits as required
- Partner with Chief Growth Officer, SVP, Finance and VP, Human Resources to calculate, track, monitor jobs, analyze job/client margins, administer sales commission plans, and report monthly
- Collaborate with VP, Human Resources to manage commission software to streamline commission calculation
Audits, Tax, and Compliance
- Oversee the annual audit process by coordinating with external auditors, managing Prepared By Client (PBC) schedules, and addressing audit findings
- Review all PBCs for accuracy and completeness before submission to the audit firm in a timely manner
- Manage the ESOP financial statements audit, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements through coordination with IVC HR and the ESOP Third-Party Administrator
- Oversee data requests and the preparation of all S Corp tax returns in collaboration with IVC’s tax partner
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax filings
- Work closely with tax advisors and stay informed of relevant tax laws and regulations
- Manage local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including licensing renewals and tax filings, to ensure full compliance with all regulations
ERP Suite Management
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the security and data integrity of financial data within the ERP system
- Maintain data integrity across all financial systems, including interfaced and integrated systems
- Ensure that the finance team is effectively utilizing the ERP system to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Evaluate and enhance accounting processes and controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Drive automation initiatives within accounting processes, collaborating with IT or external vendors as needed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to support scaling the finance function with company growth
- Assist with testing and implementation of new tools
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Experience with auditing Financial Statements
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP including revenue recognition
- Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with big-picture strategic understanding
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Passion for providing excellent service and quality
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Teams, Box, Asana, Concur and ERP systems such as NetSuite
HOURS: The normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (40 hours per week). However, due to the nature and scope of this position, days and hours may fluctuate. The position is hybrid working from the Walnut Creek office with the expectation of working a few days a week in the office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform job duties that may include an average amount of lifting (+ or – 25lbs.), sitting, bending, stooping, and standing is required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Limited travel is associated with this position. Minimal travel to the satellite offices may be required. Travel for InVision-related business is reimbursable at the amount allotted under state & federal guidelines. An expense report must be submitted for reimbursement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required. This position requires a minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including 3+ years in a management role. CPA with audit experience is required.
SALARY: The salary range for this role is from $140,000 to $160,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. This role may also be eligible for additional compensation. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, which if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for benefits including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
