We are looking for an Engineering Project Manager (Wet Utilities) for our Concord, CA Team!
Job Summary: The Engineering Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of design projects. The Project Manager will be involved in project(s) from an early stage and should remain with the project(s) throughout their duration. The Engineering Project Manager manages the project team and the development and delivery of project plans and specifications; develops and maintains, on behalf of the client, budgets, overall construction estimates, schedules, and other tasks as requested by the Owner. The Engineering Project Manager may be the senior West Valley Construction Company representative for the project(s), responsible for overseeing all activities of the project(s) and reports directly to the client's representative(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Adhere to WVCC Engineering Project Management guidelines.
- Manages team of engineers, technicians, designers, drafters, subconsultants to ensure successful delivery of assigned projects.
- Responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle to ensure a successful completion: planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery.
- Collaborate with team to ensure projects finish on time and within budget.
- Ensures projects align with established and approved design specifications.
- Tracks progress of projects toward milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators, and prepares reports for senior management.
- Selects, negotiates with, and manages activities of external consultants, or vendors.
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
- Serves as client manager/trusted advisor to clients and managing long-term connections with clients.
- Performs business development tasks, including but not limited to, networking, searching for opportunities, prepares proposals, attend interviews.
- Act as the main point of contact with the client for project resources and contractual issues.
- Resolve any technical or potential design error and omission type issues.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Certificates/Licenses: California Professional (P.E.) License preferred. Valid driver's license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and web browsing tools. Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- Interpersonal Skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interact effectively with other team members, clients, and delivers presentations. Ability to work as part of a team, and build collaborative relationships.
- Leadership: ability to develop and mentor others.
- Technical Skills: comprehensive understanding of engineering principles; stay updated in the latest technologies, trends and best practices in the field; ability to complete construction related calculations
- Organization and Planning: project scheduling and project management skills,
- Problem Solving: ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills, and solve complex problems.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
- Must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle.
- Able to safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
- Able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Able to position one-self in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
- Able to work in the sun, heat, wet, dry, dirty, and dusty conditions.
Salary:
- $130,300/year - $166,100/year
